Process automation

Process automation is the use of software, machines, or both to carry out business process steps with minimal human involvement.

It targets repetitive, rule-based work – the kind where a human doing it manually adds delay and error risk but no real judgment. Automating those steps increases speed, reduces mistakes, and lowers cost, while also creating a consistent, auditable record of exactly what happened, which matters as much for compliance as for efficiency. Common uses include data entry, invoice handling, employee onboarding, and regulatory reporting.

More advanced setups combine workflow orchestration, robotic process automation (RPA), and AI to handle a multi-step process end to end rather than automating one isolated task.
